Our Mission
The mission of the Rural Strong Network is to engage and inspire rural people to take action and provide the necessary tools and support to create opportunities and build power to ensure that every voice is heard and every individual has the opportunity to succeed. By fostering the Rural Strong Network - Building Homegrown Prosperity Together branding and framework, we are connecting rural people within their communities, across states and throughout the nation.
Investing In Rural America
We are dedicated to investing in Rural America and providing the Rural Strong Network - Building Homegrown Prosperity Together framework that gets beyond partisan politics and allows us to engage our friends and neighbors in a new conversation about what it means to have a democracy, government and economy that works for all of us. Our goal is that every voice in our beautiful country is heard and every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
Challenges We Face
23 states have Republican trifecta governments, and 12 states are divided. Many states will be disproportionately harmed by current policies.
Effective government needs accountability.
70% of elected offices go uncontested with Republicans winning 80% of those. Over 2,500 U.S. counties have fewer than 100,000 people with no independent media.
A thriving democracy needs competition.
The top 1% of Americans hold over 12x the wealth of the bottom 50% combined, who own just 2.5% of the nation's wealth.
A healthy economy needs equal opportunity.
Our View

Polarizing partisan politics has cost our communities too much over the past 20 years. With a deep love for our country, the Rural Strong Network creates a space to engage people on what it means to help people in rural and factory towns, and marginalized communities succeed and flourish. We lift-up information and tools to bring people together and increase investments and access to resources for our communities that create representative government, good paying jobs, access to education, health care, childcare and opportunities that will make positive social change with a lasting impact.
